Get Ready for the 2003 Spring/Summer Season! Learn to
Fly Fish! When: One-day classes will be held on the following Saturdays: March 22nd, April 19th, May 24th, June 21st, and July 26th 2003. Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Equipment Needed: None! Sage will provide state-of-the art equipment for you to use throughout the day! Note: sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock are recommended! Instructors: Jan & Carole Kurahara Jan has been a SAGE school instructor for the past twelve years. He is a dedicated fly fisher with over twenty years experience as an instructor and has given specialized classes in fly-casting, fly-tying, and aquatic entomology. He is certified by the FFF as a Master Casting Instructor. For the past eleven years, Jan has been the principal instructor in a 5-day, on-the-stream, advanced fly fishing class called the Master Angler Class for Clearwater Trout Tours, a fly fishing lodge on Hat Creek in Northern California. Jan's wife, Carole, has also been an avid fly fisher for over fifteen years and has been assisting Jan in both the SAGE schools and the Master Angler Class for the past eight years.
What You Will Learn: Spend a full day learning the basics of the wonderful sport of fly-fishing. Trout schools are broken into a comfortable mixture of personalized casting instruction (including video taping student's casting in order to show where improvement is needed), basic knots used, tackle selection, entomology and fly selection, and techniques & strategies to use once you get out on the water! Safety, conservation, and etiquette issues that are part of fly-fishing are also discussed. Beginner and experienced anglers alike benefit from the personalized instruction offered by Jan & Carole.
